Met up B to get W and didn't go for Andy's opening. Disappointed but I'll visit domou cafe next week or just anytime soon. I'm afraid he's gonna be pissed at me la :/ SORRY K.Anyway, I was on youtube, trying to find good songs so I typed in randon letter, then this came out, feel the epicness man. It's called "qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm(x3) song" EPICNESS.And I recently found out that 'wake me up when September ends' actually has deep meaning to it. Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, wrote this song as a memorial to his father.
His father died when he was only 10 years old. He died of cancer, in september. And because he died 20 years ago, the lyrics go "20 years have gone so fast" and "As my memories rests, but never forgets what I lost." to show that he can't ever forget losing his father and the bond between them. He misses his dad, in short. "The innocent can never last" shows that something will happen to make you lose your innocence, like the loss of his father. "Wake me up when september ends" Because his father died in september, he hopes that by waking up after september, this nightmare will all be over.
Then I ripped this off a website "At his father's funeral, Billie cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and knocked on the door to Billie's room, Billie simply said, "Wake me up when September ends""It's sentimental that he remembers all this after so long and he even made a song about it. And it's just also really sad that he cannot let go of his pain, and there's always gonna be a part of him that's missing. And after this, I cannot look at him in the same way I looked at him before, which was a good rock musician. Now, I look at him like every song he sings or plays, he does it with his soul, with his heart and passion. And that's what makes him so great, and for me, it's really what music is actually about. I sound gay by the way, yes I know.
That's why I really love rock boy bands. Because most of them actually have really fucked up lives and they don't give up. They continue. They put their hurt into their music, and their music is so powering and inspiring. When they shout and scream in their songs, people(especially my mom LOL) say that this isn't music. It's just noise. But it's not. It's them trying to scream and shout away the pain haunting them. If you really know what their lives were like, you'd understand.
Another example is Good charlotte. The two lead singers are twin brothers. Joel and Benji Madden. Their father left them when they were 16 years old and caused the family a lot of hardships. They had to quit school and work many odd jobs just to help the family get by. They even changed their last name from Madden to Combs because they didn't want anything to do with their father.
They wrote 'So predictable' for their father. He first walks out of a castle and walks the streets alone, while all the houses had a perfect family, all staring at him like he wasn't the same. This girl walks up to him and passes him a red rose and it immediately turns black, I think it shows his cold heart, and how he's never gonna be the same again. And there was a lemonade stand selling lost hopes in a jar, which is how he feels about his father. He then walks inside a telephone booth, and there is rain, but it's only falling on him. Inside, he picks up the phone and shouts
"Everywhere I go, everyone I meet, every time I try to fall in love, they all want to know why I'm so broken? Why am I so cold? Why I'm so hard inside? Why am I scared? What am I afraid of?
I don't even know. This story's never had an end. I've been waiting, I've been searching, I've been hoping, I've been dreaming you would come back.
But I know the ending of this story. You're never coming back. Never. Never. Never!"
Which is very meaningful, he's shouting out to his father out there. And the lyrics are meaningful also, saying that his dad got his hopes up, and left him again, telling his dad that he doesn't have to come back anymore. Saying he didn't know why he let him into his heart again when he actually knew he would leave again, saying that his father is "so predictable". GO LISTEN.
And they have another song, one of my favourites ever. "Hold on". It's about suicide(which is the post I still owe LOL) and how you should hold on(yes it sounds gay, but if you are suicidal or sad it helps kay so stfu) and it's just really very awesome, listen to it, it'll really give you a new view in life.
And yeah, there are many many more examples, but I can't probably list them all. I bet you all never even read until here la. I know my post is wordy but it meaningful. Doubt anyone read till here -sadface- But it's okay. AND OMG At the age of 15, Gerard Way was held at gunpoint. WTF, NOOOOOO. K random, I was wiki-ing.
